So I read both Chris Connelly’s and Al Jourgenson’s books and dug ‘em both. Both of them are very funny, but Connelly’s appears to be the one most firmly rooted in self-aware, self-depreciating reality whereas at least 75% of Jourgenson’s is hyperexaggerated bullshit. Interestingly enough, even though Jourgenson never misses a moment to trash Connelly, Barker, and everyone else who made Ministry, RevCo, or the dozens of side-projects memorable and cool, Connelly never trashes Jourgenson - he makes fun of his temper tantrums and other assorted hyperbolics, of course, but they all seem like accurate, friendly busts reinforced by Jourgenson’s own words. Long story short, if you were ever a fan of the infamous Ministry, RevCo, Pigface, Lard or any/all of the late 80s, early 90s Chicago industrial rock / industrial post-punk music coming outta Wax Trax! I recommend you read both these books to get the full, sordid story in all it’s noisy outlaw glory.
